Have you ever read Lord of The Flies? The Lord of The Flies is a book, written by William Golding, about some boys that crash landed in an island and had to live there for quite some time. The two boys that first came out in the book are Piggy and Ralph. Later on in the book come Simon, Samneric, and Jack and the choir boys. All these boys have a main part in this book. When the boys crash landed they had to find help some way. That’s when Piggy and Ralph had met and find the conch, which is something that they use throughout the time they are there. There is also 2 more symbols that show their life on the island. The fire that Ralph said couldn’t die out was to go home or get rescued. Eventually Piggy’s specs are used to start on of the …show more content…
The lord of the flies was the pig's head. The pig’s head was the lord of the flies because it was a symbol for death and when something dies flies surround it which is exactly what happened to the pig head. The lord of the flies or “lord of death” is a symbol for the lord of death or the devil. This is symbolic because all the boys little by little one by one died off. First it was the boy with the birthmark on his face that was killed because of the fire. Then simon was killed by jack and the boys because they thought he was the beast. Then last was piggy he was killed when robert accidentally pressed the lever of push the rock. All these boys DIED which showed that the lord of the flies was around them a lot because for 3 boys to die, even though it was expected, is quite a lot of boys. The lord of the flies did talk to one of the boys. He said and i quote “ We will have fun on this island!” and the pig head also faintly says to not interfere with Jack, Ralph, Piggy, Robert, Maurice, Bill, and Roger because he knows what they’ll “do” to him. The lord of the flies is just another symbol for death and the devil. This symbol to me is the biggest symbol because without the Lord of the Flies the book wouldn’t have made much sense. To me the pig head also foreshadowed that piggy was going to die and he basically almost died the same way he cracked his head open and dying …show more content…
If you think about it this book can really mean something to the literature world. The three symbols in the book played a big part in it because they pulled the story together. Most of these symbols had a really big meaning to them. The first one which was the conch meant that who ever had it had power and authority. Most of them got the power and authority to speak but some of the others didn’t which wasn’t fair but that's the way that the island made the boys. The second symbol was piggy’s specs or glasses. Piggy's glasses represent something that him and the boys depend on. Piggy depended on the because he can not see without them. And the boys depended on them to turn on the fire. Most of the boys could say that they needed them more than him because they need the specs to turn on the fire. In reality piggy was vulnerable without his glasses he couldn’t see or help in any way. The last and the most important symbol is “The Lord of the Flies” or as we can say the pig’s head. The lord of the flies had a pretty small but big role at the same time. The pigs head represented the devil because one the boys were turning into savages, two they were turning to killing everyone and everything they find, and three they just couldn’t control themselves anymore. Most of the book did seem like it was going to be a book about some british boys going from being innocent to being savages. Yes
