The cold winter air blew into the deserted room, ruffling the rich velvet curtains. The draft was coming in from the cracks in the broken down walls and the window. Judging from the ruined remains of the chamber, the room had once belonged to royalty. A bed frame was cracked and splintered in one corner of the room. The headboard was snapped in half, but the elaborate designs carved into the wood were still visible. On the floor not too far away from the bed laid a crushed portrait. It depicted a handsome man, and a beautiful woman, most likely husband and wife. They were wearing fancy clothes from the olden times, the artwork still amazingly lifelike, even through all the damage. The only thing ruining the painting was three long slashes …show more content…
The cover was made of worn leather, and was gilded with faded silver and gold tones. An assortment of semi-precious stones were laid in the corners of the cover. On the spine of the book, the title was written out in what seemed to be an earlier version of English. It was in fact, a language that was completely unknown to any member of mankind. The man knelt down to run his fingers over the words in the title. "It's finally time." The man's voice was rough and raspy, probably due to the fact that he hardly ever used his voice in the past few years. In fact, he hadn't spoken since........the war. He shook his head to rid all the memories that came rushing back into his mind. It was time to put that mistake behind him and to find the new saviors of this human world. Then he raised his head up to the dirty glass window and spoke to the moon itself. "The moon is full on a mid-winter dusk on the day of the final stand. Three blue moons have passed since the orbs chose their true bodies, and this realm is once again in need of their powers." He spoke softly, yet his voice still echoed in the abandoned chamber. At first, nothing seemed to happen. The man sighed. "Yet another year where no one is pure enough for the elements." The light circled the book warily, as it may bolt out the now completely demolished window just as suddenly as it burst in. Finally, the light started to cram together to form a floating ball of pure blue light. The man was forced to exhale a breath he never knew he took. The orb then crashed right into the old book. It split into four different orbs, each of different coloration and design. The one closest to the man was a sky blue color. It had dark grey storm clouds brewing in the tiny space provided in the orb. He could practically feel the ozone mixing in the air inside the ball. A crack of lightning from inside the orb temporarily blinded him. The orb to the left of the thunder orb was blue too, only it was a more sea green color then sky blue. If he were to name the color it would most likely be aqua. The orb had miniature waves crashing into the sides of the ball. The man could taste the salty air on his face and the splashing of water on his skin. Still going clockwise, the next orb was a bright, vibrant green, with darker green vines and colorful flowers growing inside. It seemed to be the most peaceful orb by far. The last orb was a flaming red and orange combo. It had flames licking the inside of the ball, the fire growing and flickering barely contained in the orb. The man could feel the intense heat on his
