Are you taking oil for granted? From a website made by a company who wanted to discuss about crude oil:
“According to the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security, there are trillions of barrels of oil available for the world’s use. The Institute suggests that 6 percent of oil reserves are found in North America, 9 percent in Latin and Central America, 2 percent in Europe, 4 percent in Asia, 7 percent in Africa and 6 percent in the nations that once comprised the Soviet Union. So what about the other sixty-six percent? This amount of oil is found in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia and Iraq being the two nations that have the most oil to offer. Most experts predict that if trends continue, eighty three percent of global oil will be controlled by the Middle East.”

Some examples if crude oil was no longer available:
-Roofing shingles and roof coatings: what if there’s a hole in the roof?
-Parachutes: How would we land in a emergency landing from a helicopter?
-Deodorant: do we want to smell bad?
-Shampoo: what would we use to wash our hair with?
-Toothpaste: we just can’t use mouth wash, can we?

Fractional Distillation:
The inside of a fractional distilling column has sets of perforated trays. There are bubble cap which forces the oil vapour to bubble through liquid on the tray. This causes the vapour to cool as it flows upward and to condense into liquids. At various levels in the column, liquid is drawn off. The heavier products, such as heavy gas oil, are taken from the bottom part of the column and the lighter products, such as gasoline, are taken from the top.
