When asked what comes to mind when hearing the term “cult classic”, the results from people were fairly similar. Across all ages, people generally thought of films, old and new. This is a common misconception amongst defining cult classics. But in order to determine how something is classified as a cult classic, the two words must be analyzed first. For something to be a classic, whether it be a show or a book or even a tradition of some sort, it must have some established value. It does not need to be unanimously agreed by everyone in the whole world that something should be deemed a classic. Therefore, classic is a mostly subjective term, usually given by people in a specific group. The word classic is similar to “best” and “favorite”.
