There are many cultural norms that may be different between Chinese and my American cultural norms. In the chinese cultural norms of family, the elderly are treated with a tremendous amount of respect and dignity. While the young are cherished and nurtured. Americans goal of family is simply to encourage independence, specifically the children. Unlike the chinese, older Americans less often live with their children. There are also differences between on how Chinese and Americans handle money. Chinese like to save money, Chinese are always conservative on spending money. In the USA far fewer families save for emergencies and education. Chinese people value education more than Americans, Chinese go to school all year around and Americans don't.
