Daniel Morgan was born July 6,1736 in Hunterdon,NJ. He then died on July 6, 1802 in Winchester, VA. He was a soldier, an American pioneer,and a United States Representative from VA. While being a soldier and then moving up a rank and being a general he was told that he was an amazing tactician, or a great at making strategies. When Daniel was growing up as a child he would not tell anyone about it because it was not very pleasant. Daniel and his father didn't get along very well. At the age of 17, Daniel and his father got into a major argument and Daniel ran away from home. He then moved to the Southern Colony of Virginia. Daniel and his 1,000 men set off to Canada on September 25, 1776 and it was very harsh. After 45 days, they finally arrived in Quebec on November 9, 1776. When they arrived they had lost almost 400 of their men only leaving them left with about 600 men left to fight with. On December 31 Richard Montgomery arrived and he was sent to help Daniel and Arnold with the battle. During the battle Arnold was injured and Daniel instantly took over,then Montgomery's planned failed and around 300 men were captured including Daniel. Since the plan failed, Daniel was forced to surrender and they lost that battle. He was held as a prisoner until they exchanged Daniel for either something or someone else.Two years later in 1777, Daniel rejoined with Washington and was very surprised to find out that he moved up a couple ranks and now was a Colonel because of his good effort in the Canada Intrusion battle. A couple days later Daniels new assignment was to raise and command a brand new regiment by April. This regiment that he was assigned was called the 11th Virginia Regiment of the Continental Line.
