If you rely on caffeine to wake up and keep the body going, you are not alone. Caffeine is used by millions of people every day to increase wakefulness, alleviate fatigue, and improve concentration and focus (“Caffeine; How much is too much” pg. 1). If not careful on the amounts taken of this drug, caffeine would result to consequences in the body. Also scientists are starting to prove that caffeine is addicting. Even though caffeine is in most every food or drink, it has to be treated with respect like alcohol, if not, symptoms like increased heart beat and racing thoughts will occur. An animal that is affected by the caffeine is Daphnia. Daphnia, also known as water fleas are distinct living organisms of the Animal Kingdom. They are Microorganisms, with a heart that works much like ours. Most distinctly known for their clear body, someone can see almost all their organs just by looking. Daphnia are Planktonic Crustacean and belong to the class Branchiopoda. This class includes Fairy shrimp, Clam shrimp, Cladocera, and multiple other crustaceans (Ebert, 2005, pg.1). But what about a drug that is perfectly legal and someone could take such a large dosage, that is easily enough to kill them. Caffeine needs to be regulated, not by parole department or government officials, but by the person who consumes. Like stated, in Newton's third law of motion, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Meaning in a different sense than motion laws, if someone takes over dosage of caffeine, it may have positive effects like to stay awake in the morning, but it will also backfire on the body.
