‘The Castle’, is an Australian comedic film released in 1997, starring Michael Caton as Darryl Kerrigan, a middle-aged father of a working class Melbournian family. As the story progresses, Darryl retains his kind-hearted and affable personality, but after a large corporation attempts to ‘compulsorily acquire’ his home, Darryl transforms from a naïve and ignorantly optimistic man, to one who is more realistic, and has a better understanding of Australia’s capitalist bureaucratic system.
