She was an intelligent and beautiful woman, but her husband was surly and mean in his dealings—he was a Calebite.” (1 Samuel 25:3) Abigail was one of “God’s masterpieces” because she was as beautiful as she was on the outside on the inside. She was always trying to make peace out of things that Nabal would do and was always looking after him. Even though she had an unpleasant home life she still was one of God’s most faithful servants and her whole life was devoted to serving the Lord. Abigail had very interesting relationships and spiritual purposes in her life. During her lifetime Abigail had two husbands named Nabal and David. Nabal was a drunken man that worshiped other gods than the one true God that Abigail was devoted to. She was always there for him even though he was cruel to her and was a very foolish man. Abigail was the one who would get him out of trouble and make peace with all of their neighbors. One of Abigail’s main spiritual purposes was to show that when a Christian marries a non-believer their relationship may be miserable. Even though Nabal was a terrible husband she was there for him through the better and the worse. She also teaches us a lesson that even through the tough times we need to stay faithful to God and He will bless us. Abigail was mistreated all throughout her marriage with Nabal but since she stayed faithful to God she was blessed with a happy marriage with David. She shows us that beauty is not important on the outside but on the inside and just because she was beautiful doesn’t mean that she was not intelligent.
