Eli Campeau Literature Dr. Filar 2/27/2027 According to many professional definitions of a bildungsroman, they all possess the quality of being tailored to one coming of age story or journey to maturity. Moreover, professionals’ definitions only target a singular window of time in which a bildungsroman can take place. Instead, the bildungsroman should be thought of as an evolving yet versatile rhizome of memories that are tailored to a specific experience like starting a new career, going to college, raising kids, or any experience with a different beginning. Eventually, these experiences accumulate, overlap, and sometimes never end, all representing unique chapters of life that shape a person. The bottom line is his mantra, it consists of coming face to face with your conscience and bettering yourself by constantly armoring your mind through hard work. However, Goggins was never a freak of nature physically, neither did he display the strict mental discipline that is all over social media. For Goggins, his childhood was nothing less than traumatizing. Likewise, for most, one’s childhood plays a significant role in how they develop as a human, as well as their bildungsroman.
