Earthquakes are caused by tectonic plates crashing into each other. Over time it causes pressure, and with enough pressure it can be released causing earthquakes. On October 15, 2013 a massive earthquake struck with a massive magnitude of 7.2 in the central Philippines. Many people were killed and more were injured, and over 250 houses were completely destroyed. People responded to this major earthquake by donating supplies, repairing damaged land, and gathering materials. People responded to the earthquake by donating money and supplies. IFRC has provided 10,000 families with household essentials including blankets, water, mosquito nets, and tarpaulins.
