After the bombing of Pearl, many citizens of the west coast became Anti-Japanese. President Franklin D. Roosevelt passed the Executive Order 9066, which forced over 110,000 Japanese Americans to leave their homes. They had about a week to pack they homes and take what they needed to the detention camps. Many Japanese Americans had to sell their homes and their possessions. They were first sent to Assembly Centers, temporary centers at racetracks and athletic fields. They were then sent to Relocation Centers, these were the permanent camps and they were usually in the middle of deserts isolated from the public. While in there, the Japanese made the best they could out of a bad situation. They made their own food and they planted rubber supply.
