The ratification of the United States Constitution lasted between the years 1787 and 1788. The years following the ratification divided the nation for many years. People like James Madison, Elbridge Gerry,Alexander Hamilton, and many more played a big role throughout the history of the United States.
The nation was divided between the federalist and the anti federalist, like Elbridge Gerry . Elbridge Gerry was anti-federalist who voiced his opinion of the people. For example, “Of the people, but they have no security for the right of election.” He knew without the Bill of Rights people wouldn’t have the power to do anything. He believed that the “legislature and others are dangerous” ( Document A). The anti-federalists wanted the Bill of
