The main purpose of the project was to collect food from neighborhoods to give to individuals in need. The goal of this drive was to gather food for the 360 communities located in Burnsville. Our group's goal was to raise at least 200 lbs of food. The activity was organized and run entirely by chapter members but all of the food was donated to the 360 communities. This program was also part of DECA’s chapter projects. We started by raising awareness of our program by spreading the word through our friends and family. A few members of our Deca chapter project decided to also spread the word about the food drive at work. Within 3 days our bin was absolutely full! We also hung posters and banners around the school a week before the drive took place. We also posted numerous banners throughout downtown Lakeville. For the neighborhoods we did not go through, the banners gave them the option for people to drop off their donated food at both Lakeville North and South High Schools. Doing this food drive and donating it to the 360 communities has impacted us in several ways, we all began to appreciate the small things in our lives. For example, eating food and the availability of food in our society is an everyday routine which Americans take for granted. As Americans every morning we wake up to an abundance of opportunities to access food throughout our daily life. In our society there are grocery stores and restaurants on every street corner, while in less privileged countries they struggle to access food and have to grow their own
