The 50`s, i picked the 50`s because it just seemed like an interesting time. The BIGGEST trend of the 50`s was the hula hoop. Richard knerr and arthur "spud" melin, founders of the Wham-O company, are the architects of the biggest trend of all time-the hula hoop! in 1957, an australian visting california told them, quite casually, that in his home country, children twirled bamboo hoops around their waist in gym class.most of us would have thought somthing along the lines of "how nice" but for knerr and melin an idea spawned. The "hula hoop" came from the hawaiian dance its users seemed to imitate. Talk about sales!
