Abstract This paper is an intervention analysis based on the case study of a 11-year-old girl diagnosed with DKA whose outcome unfortunately was fatal due to the severity and complexity of her disease and its process. This paper will describe the physiology and pathophysiology of the diabetes-related complication Diabetic Ketoacidosis(DKA), the organs or systems that is involved, and how it impacting diabetes. In addition, the significance of this diabetes related condition within a child population will also be discussed. Interventions strategies and solutions DKA will be explored and the risk of the diabetes-related condition for the patient in the case study will be addressed. An analyzation of the similarities and differences between the actual patient treatment plan and the evidence- based research for the diabetes -related complication will be conducted. There are several complications of diabetes mellitus. DKA is one of the complication of diabetes that is life- threatening.

She presented to the emergency room (ER) with altered mental status and vomiting. 24 -hours prior to admission these symptoms had begun along with decreased oral intake. Assessment revealed that this patient was dehydrated with signs of hypovolemic heart rate of 140 beats/ min, a blood pressure of 80/60 mmHg and temperature of 37 °C (Severinski, Butorac Ahel, Ovuka, & Verbic, 2016).
