The Scarlet Letter ends with the lasting quote:“On a field, sable, the scarlet letter A, Gules” (216). This is symbolic because it shows that Hester and Dimmesdale's sin will not be forgotten and will follow them to death, however, this may also be interpreted in which the town has forgiven them since the lovers were buried next to each other. I enjoyed the novel immensely and would not change anything about it. I felt each line served a purpose in crafting this nowel and each action and event only helped the reader understand the themes more.
