CHAPTER 11 The Truth Shall Set You Free
As streaks of light from the morning sun glittered off the gems on the ceiling and floors, Scarlet’s eyes flittered open. She knew that William would show up soon with some new supplies. She certainly hoped he would bring food as her stomach was now rumbling like an old wooden wheel. She would try to keep herself busy until he comes. She puts some more small sticks on the coals from the night before. She heads out to the waterfall to gather some fresh water and clean up a bit. She looks up at the sky. The morning sun does not burn as brightly this morn. The sky seems to be getting darker and darker. She opens it to reveal a chunk of brown bread, cabbage, a wedge of cheese, beans, eggs, oats, a thick piece of chicken breast and some flasks of fresh water. As well, there was some new candles and most importantly, another thick blanket for those cold autumn evening that were about to be upon them. “I haven’t got the chance to speak with father yet but as soon as I get back I promise I will try.” Scarlet puts some more twigs on the fire and takes out the pot which she had found in one of the corridors earlier. She start breaks up the chunks of bread and throws it into the pot. As well, she adds some potatoes, cabbage an egg and some of the chicken. She uses one of the flasks of water and places the pot on the now simmering coals. “That might take a bit to cook. Would you like to stay for dinner? I feel pretty lonely here by myself.”
