1. I believe what is most important about chapter 1 is that we were able to meet the main characters of the story. We were introduced to them one by one and got to know them on a more personal level so that we will be able to understand them more throughout the book. We also learned a lot about the Narrator and where he came from.
2. At the beginning of the novel nick describes his self as coming from a prominent Midwestern family. He also informs us that he graduated from New Haven in 1915. Nick Also shares that he is originally from West Egg but decided to move to East Egg.
