The very recognizable sound of the diesel engines is one of the few flaws diesels have. Diesels usually are louder than gasoline and hybrid vehicles. Other flaws are a strong telltale odor. Diesels cost more than conventional gasoline but cost less than a hybrid. Filling stations are harder to come by. Not all stations have diesel. Those are the flaws of diesel engines. Now you are asking yourself; ok those are the cons, is there and pros? Power, a big pro when it comes to diesels. Torque for example “The 2007 Mercedes-Benz 3.0 liter V6 E320 Bluetec Diesel sedan puts out an amazing 388 lb-ft torque starting as low as 1600 rpm. While the gasoline counterpart E350 V6 gasoline-fueled puts out 258 lb-ft torque at 2400 rpm” (Don’t be fooled: Gas vs Diesel vs Hybrid). Power does not necessarily mean more fuel per gallon. Fuel mileage is another pro for diesel engines. Diesel engines, known to get the most of every gallon of fuel. Even though gasoline is cheaper than diesel at the pump, Diesel engines get more mph than its gasoline counterparts. “Still using the E320 as an example, it gets 26/35 mph while the E350 gets 19/26 mph” (Don’t be fooled: Gas vs Diesel vs Hybrid). Still there are more pros to the diesel engines. The very “first diesel engine passenger car is a 1936 Mercedes” (Don’t be fooled: Gas vs Diesel vs Hybrid). Diesels engines require less maintenance than gasoline engines. Oil changes every 10,000 for diesels and every 3,000 for gasoline. Diesels

Diesel oil changes cost more than the gasoline oil changes, but the 3 to one ratio gives the diesel another pro. Diesels also do not require electric to start except for the battery. Gasoline engines require a coil and spark plugs. Overall, like most, there are pros and cons, for a diesel engine, the pros outweigh the cons.

Conclusion

Lotus Rental Car Company should invest in alternative fuel vehicles because it portraits a nicer corporate image, and it is better for the environment. Sure, both those are true, but it is all about the almighty dollar. With that said, yes Lotus Rental Car Company should invest. It is more cost
