The Spanish and the English have very different empires. They have different views on religion and economic systems. One difference that affected their the way they ruled their colonies was religion since New Spain was strictly Catholic and the English Colonies were a mixture of many Protestant sects. Another difference between the colonies was the economic systems they used like the Spanish and the encomienda system, and the English who used indenture servants and enslaved Africans .
