Catholicsm Verus Presbyterian
Nath Tiwari once said “All the different religions are really like different paths leading to the same goal. So there is no question of prescribing any rigid set of principles or practices. Everyone has got the right to follow his own path and approach God in his own way.” Catholicism and Presbyterian are similar religions which branch from one another and follow the same paths. The two religions both believe in the trinity, Jesus Christ’s redemption, and that Jesus was both fully human and God (A Comparative Chart of Christian Beliefs). Whereas, Presbyterians live for the Holy Scripture and it is thought to be believed and followed. They do not believe in any man or Church, but only God. God’s glory, salvation, faith, and life are revealed throughout the scripture. The Church is not allowed to make laws in addition to God’s words, but rather interpret the Word of God and express it through their actions. Presbyterians believe that Christ alone is the head of the Church. The preachers that speak of the God’s Word are gifted by the Spirit and it is expected to spread the good news to the followers. They also believe that the Church was sent to help us understand the Word, but it is not literally true. On the other hand, Catholic’s believe in every word of the Scripture. They believe that is arrogant for the Church to presume to have authority of God’s word and command. Presbyterian believers question the Catholic followers call to celibacy because it was never stated in the bible. Catholics require priest to take vows of celibacy which is contrary to human nature and leading to sin. Eating meet on Friday’s was also discouraged by the Catholic Church, if not it was considered a sin. However they have revokes that restriction and now it’s not a
