About Dominican Republic The Dominican Republic is a nation made up of two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola, which is located in the Caribbean Sea (Central Intelligence Agency, 2015). The Dominican Republic shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti and together with Cuba, The Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico and Jamaica makeup the Greater Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean (Wikipedia, 2015). Roughly the twice the size of New Hampshire the Dominican Republic lives in a tropical maritime climate that feeds its rugged highlands and fertile valleys (Central Intelligence Agency, 2015). The official language on the island is Spanish and the ethnic groups are reported as being 73 percent mixed, 16 percent white and 11 percent black. Dominicans are also identified as being 95 percent Roman Catholic (Central Intelligence Agency, 2015). Population on the island as of the last census was an estimate of 10,349,741 2014 people (Central Intelligence Agency, 2015). Agriculture has long been at the heart of the Dominican Republic and its main source of economy used to be exports. Exporting crops such as sugar, coffee and tabacco was the nation’s largest industry but things have changed (Central Intelligence Agency, 2015) In recent years the service sector has overthrown the agricultural sector as the largest employer. The growth of the service sector is due to growth and technological advances such as in telecommunications, tourism and free trade (Central Intelligence Agency, 2015). The Dominican Republic is expanding and accommodating to the service sector in tourism and helping the island become a top Caribbean getaway. Because the Dominican Republic sits in the middle of the Caribbean Sea it is a desirable destination for travelers from all over the world.

Analysis
Tourism has experienced steady and continued growth over the decades becoming the fastest growing economic sector in the world (World Tourism Organization, 2015). Tourism is a key driver for socio-economic progress in up and coming Caribbean destinations such as the Dominican Republic. Hilton Worldwide is such a heavy weight in the worldwide hotel industry that it would be a great match for the rapidly expanding tourism and service sector in the Dominican Republic. It would be beneficial for both the company and the country because of the trust and brand loyalty the Hilton name brings to the travelers that would bring income in to the host country. Although opening a successful business in foreign countries does not guarantee a success it does help to have a strong brand name and leading spot in the industry. The Dominican Republic is a tropical island and the country prides itself in the way they help preserve their natural wonders such as their flora, fauna and wildlife (The World Factbook, 2015).
