Everyone should be aware of the calorie intake of the food they eat, especially fast food. We eat so much fast food everyday and we forget that it is bad for us. Mostly for our youth, fast food is the main option they go to when it comes to food. They eat it so much that they forget that its “junk” food and not actual food. The fast food restaurants are the only option for many of today’s youths which is causing obesity. Zinczenko states “ Today, according to the National Institutes of Health, Type 2 diabetes accounts for at least 30 percent of all new childhood cases of diabetes in this country.”(463). These youths are victim to the inexpensive and convenient meals offered at the fast-food restaurants. The problem is that most of these youths do not know the dangers of eating such meals on an everyday basis, which could lead to obesity, high cholesterol, and diabetes. It is very easy to find healthier options that are just as inexpensive as fast food restaurants. You don't have to go buy an 8 dollar salad at McDonalds. It is very easy to walk into your neighborhood market or a grocery store and buy a ham sandwich and a banana for about the same price as a fast food meal. These grocery stores are just as abundant as the fast food restaurants, and are just as easy to purchase food from with the same amount of varies to choice from. The foods bought from these grocery stores also have the nutrition facts printed right on them, so the consumer always knows what they are eating. The only problem is, I feel to what degree are these labels accurate. These labels could be misleading and providing false information towards anyone reading them. For example, Zinczenko provided a scenario where he states a company has listed a chicken salad and the calorie count of it. The chicken salad says it contains at least 150 calories and adding in the almonds and noddles it becomes 190 calories. After you have
