One of the biggest reasons why Langston hughes is one of the most famous poet and social activists in the U.S. he was born in Joplin, Missouri on may 22nd 1927. Langston Hughes was also a playwright, some of his productions include, Black Nativity, Mule Bone, Tambourines to Glory, Simply Heavenly, Jerico-Jim Crow. A lot of poems that Hughes writes portray an image or story to the people reading it. To add on I think that in Dream Variations he is telling the story of the Harlem renaissance and how the blacks all migrated down to chicago to get jobs. There is a metaphor when Hughes who is a black man compares himself to the dark night. This poem also uses repetition in the first in second stanza considering they are almost the exact same except for very subtle changes. Furthermore there is also a rhyme scheme a,b,c,etc… which gives the poem more liveliness. Last but not least there is alliteration in the part where it says to whirl whirl till the quick day is done. I can relate to this. When I was younger, I tried out for a soccer team. and I didn’t make the best one. At first I was upset, But my dad told me that if I stay upset and don’t try, then I will never make it to where I want to go. So I worked hard and had a lot of fun on my team and forgot about the whole ordeal. At midseason, my coaches came to talk to me about something I didn’t know what at the time, but at the end of the chat they told me I moved up. I think that the moral of this poem is that dreams are something that we have for a reason you can’t accomplish a dream without perseverance you have to
