This study focused on the topic of early intervention in psychosis. The purpose was to examine through interviews of the participant and the husband about how the experiences of psychosis impacts their relationship, the reason for delayed request for help and what made the subject realize she needed help. Researchers wanted to find ways to better understand help-seeking behaviors for those who have early psychosis.

The author had first briefly mentioned a source from Marshall et al (2005), and Norman et al (2007), about that the duration of untreated psychosis, DUP, was “correlated with a worse prognosis measured by a symptom response to treatment, social dysfunction, quality of life or global measures of functioning” (as cited in Tranulis et al., 2009). The author goes on to cite an article that the DUP can impact the kind of outcome would be in psychosis. The author then explains that the aim of the past findings is to find reasons that cause a delay in seeking help and early intervention in psychosis. The mean age of the participants were 25 years old with a relatively long DUP. Also, this study focused on a specific individual’s experience and the partner. However, the information about the sampling was very limited such as the characteristics and the number of subjects used. There is not a good balance of the use of participants because even though the researcher did say that there were other participants, this studied really focused more on the one case, which cannot be sufficient enough for their study. Also, there is no section that specifically discusses the participants used in the study. Instead, there is an extensive section about the history of one particular subject that is the focus of this
