The Early River Valley Civilizations were very important to the development of the human race. They contributed to society by creating technology that could make work easier and by creating empires and civilizations that would later on be used as an example to create other types of governments. Inventions like the wheel, the calendar, and written language were some of the most important contributions by the Early River Valley Civilizations. In this essay I will be comparing the Babylonian empire and the Sumerian civilization to find differences and similarities in their economical, political and social life styles. The first thing I will be comparing will be the economy of Babylon and Sumer.
Both Babylonian and Sumerian economies didn’t have a money system and instead of money they traded goods as if though they were money and the monetary value of the items depended on how scarce that item was. Another similarity they had was their dependency on

Both the Babylonians and the Sumerians had civilizations that had three classes. The first class was the richest class and it consisted of kings, priest, nobles, and authority figures, the second class consisted of farmers, scribes, potters, and smiths, and the last class was the slaves. Another similarity between the two of was the type of society. Both of these societies were patriarchal societies, this meant that the man of the family had all the power and that everyone else in the family had to follow the guidelines that the father set. One of the main differences in between the two civilizations was the way they lived within that kingdom. Although Sumer was one big civilization, the people were constantly at war when the city-states wanted to evenly distribute the water , but the Babylonian empire united all of Mesopotamia to create a safe environment within its city
