Poe known as an alcoholic and literary genius left no evidence of how he died. Poe may have died of alcoholism, because he was addicted to alcohol. Although many people had other ideas of how he died such as rabies. However, Poe died of alcoholism because when he was seen, his clothes were crumbled and too small. Also he wasn't remembering anything about his life.
Many people believed Poe died of Rabies, however doctors said Poe didn't contract rabies. "Dr. Benitez admits the primary weakness of his theory, lack of evidence of a bite or scratch. Therefore, they didn't find evidence of rabies but they did for alcoholism. "On his fourth day at the hospital Poe again grew confused and beligerent then quieted down and died." That is known as a classic case of rabies, but he also drank water and when you have rabies you have a fear of water, so it most likely isn't rabies. "Rabies is well known for symptoms including, itching that affects the size of the body. Therefore, if it was rabies then the doctors couldn't have missed a rash or itching of his body. This is

"His shirt crumbled, his cheap hat soiled." (The New York Times 187.) This shows that Poe didn't care about his appearance because of the alcohol. "In the morning Poe developed a tremor of the limbs." This is a common symptom of alcoholism. This is why I think that Poe died of alcoholism rather than rabies.
I believe Poe died of alcoholism because there is no other evidence of how he died. Poe didn't die of rabies because there is no proof, although there is proof of alcoholism so therefore that is how I think Poe died.
