In Edmond Rostand’s play, Cyrano de Bergerac, Cyrano seems to be cursed with a huge nose. This nose, however, has been a blessing in disguise. At the beginning of the play, Cyrano said that he swore he would be good at everything. He has to fake his confidence to make up for his appearance. This cover-up works, all throughout the play, Cyrano remains an honorable, noble man with no shortage of shrewdness. The under appreciation other people have for Cyrano’s inner characteristics have made him appreciate the beauty of the world. In the text, it is made obvious that Cyrano is a lover of the arts. He is almost always speaking in a poetic fashion and he often writes plays. This love for art can only be achieved if one is humbled much like Cyrano
