Elderly Communication Analysis

Older people tend to develop several health problems such as impaired vision, hearing problems, speech impairments, and loss of memory among other problems. Communication plays a key role in administering care to elderly people. Having psychological related problems means communication becomes a challenge. Elderly people respond at slower rates and communicating with them requires patience and tolerance. The first thing to do is to ask them if they have any health conditions or impairments linked to vision, hearing, and speech. This helps people to know how to develop communication strategy with them (Cheng et al., 2012). Taking time to communicate with the elderly people is not wasted because it helps to determine their needs.
