Eleanor roosevelt was born on october 11,1884 in new york.Eleanor was best known for being an active first lady who worked hard for human rights.Eleanor Roosevelt grew up in a fairly rich family,but she had a tough childhood.Eleanor roosevelt mom died when she was eight,and her dad two years after her mom died.Eleanor didn’t have that many friends her age and was a quiet and frightened child.Her dad more encouraging than her mom but he wasn’t around much.He send her letters that she kept for her whole life.When eleanor turned fiffteen her grandmother sent her to boarding school near london.

Eleanor mother was somewhat ashamed of eleanor plainness.Eleanor had two younger brother Elliot jr(1889-1893) and Gracie hall roosevelt(1891-1941).Eleanor also had a half brother Elliot roosevelt mann(1891-1976).Eleanor brother died of the same disease as there mom(diphtheria).Eleanor childhood losses left her prone to depression throughout her life.Eleanor was raised in the household of her maternal grandmother,Mary Livingston Ludlow (1843-1919).
