English 1301 Reflection

When I commenced English 1301 in August, my writing was nowhere near college ready. I went into the class with no expectations of improving my writing. Despite this, I was enhancing my writing skills every time I read a chapter of my English book or wrote an essay. As I wrote each essay, I experienced a new form of articulating my writing, whether it was writing a Narrative or Third person essay. I was also able to improve my social skills through a group project. Looking back, I am proud of myself for becoming a disciplined and attentive student in my English class. Moreover, I anticipate my writing to continue improving, along with becoming a more well-rounded individual.

One of my favorite viewpoints I had learned was the third person viewpoint. Following the lesson I had the opportunity to write a response paper about Brent Staple's, "Black Men In Public Spaces". Professor Mayo guided me and my classmates in composing the paper. In any event, that paper was probably one of my best works in my English class. Nevertheless, I gained knowledge about racial issues from the 80's and became more educated in the process.
Another event that really impacted me as a learner was the group project. I was always very solitary when it came to my studies so when Professor Mayo stated that we had to group up, I was quite timid. However, I partnered up with two classmates and became very diligent. I took charge of our group and made sure our project was ready to present. When it was time to present I was actually very impressed with what we came up with. Professor Mayo gave very positive feedback to my partners and I. I never expected to be able to present in front of a class and let alone do a good job at
