What did I learn about becoming a Dental Hygienist? It doesn't take much to seat and treat patients in a dental setting. They have to be prepared for anything to walk though the door. To clean a room they need a fresh set of gloves and these certain disinfectant wipes dental offices use. After they have their gloves and wiped their room down, they dispose of the headrest cover and the blue tape that covers the handles on the light, x-ray handle, saliva ejectors, and the air-water tip. Then they have to wipe the whole room have to be cautious, and be sure they wiped everything. Then onto the instruments ultra sonic that shakes off all of the blood and tartar that make it dirty. Then they stick the instruments into the autoclave, its like an oven and it disinfects the instruments. After the instruments have been sterilized, they put the things that the hygienist likes to use into their instrument holder. In conclusion, I’ve learned a lot. From how to properly seat and treat a patient , to be cautious no matter what, and how to properly disinfect everything that is in a room. They are all helpful things to know if I were to go into
