Christopher is on the Autism Spectrum as you can tell by the way he acts throughout the book. Christopher shows many signs of being on the Spectrum. He tends to be exceedingly good at on subject that he does all the time. He has some behavioral issues that if you have dealt with kids like Christopher you would know what they are. Not wanting to be touched, deciding one how his day will go according to something. Not knowing how human emotions work. They may or may not drink or eat depending on the day. Screaming when feeling confused and angry or groaning. They are very sensitive to touch and sound. There are a lot of signs and its important that if this is a kid you know that you have to respect what they do and understand them. It takes a while but they are just like you and I.
As we watch Christopher grow throughout the book (The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time). We see that through Christopher being on the Autism Spectrum he isn’t like normal kids. In the book he shows a lot of signs of being on the Autism Spectrum. Like on pg 2 he is given pictures by Siobhan to match what peoples faces look like to know what type of emotion they are showing. Christopher doesn’t know how to tell what emotion he knows when someone is mad because they tend to yell but thats about it. When Christopher has a black day he doesn’t speak to anyone, he doesn’t eat and he takes absolutely no risk on black days. (pg 24) He sits in the corner of the library and groans. He does this because he wants to be safe and that will calm him down when he feels unsafe.(pg53) But on his super good days he knows something good will happen to him, so he might take risks like talking to strangers like Mrs.
