Ethical Decision The first Massage School I went to was shut down, because the owner was not only breaking the law she was unethical according to the State Board of Massage. The Massage School was just starting as a new school in our area. There were only four students, and the owner gave all of us keys to the building and told us that classes started at 9 am. She was never there at 9 am; she would show around 11 and then take everyone to lunch using Trade Bucks (Trade Bucks is a program in our area used to trade services between businesses). I would go home during this time, because it was lunch, and they would drink margarita’s, and I am not a drinker. You cannot give a massage if you have been drinking alcohol, and in the afternoon’s that is what the class consisted of. The owner got behind on rent at the school and could not catch up, so she found another place to rent. According to the State Board of Massage you have to give the board 30-day notice of moving your school, so they can inspect the facilities. The owner/teacher never gave any test or kept records, except for payments made for school. She gave us time sheets to keep up with own hours of study. The owner of the massage school called me and told me if I would side with her and go along with her story, she would give me my diploma. I had already paid for school, which was $8,000 dollars and one of the students who filed the complaint had also paid in full. I choose to do the right thing and tell the truth; A meeting was held with the State Attorney General where we testified to what went on at the school. The owner got her massage license taken away and the school was shut down. We tried to sue her to get our money back, but she filed
