The novel The Awakening, of which the writer is Kate Chopin, drags its reader down into a poor mindset. The reader is demonstrated how ethics are barely utilized as a part of regular law by Mrs. Pontellier. The reader is tossed from one occurrence of defiance in a fight with Mr. Pontellier into her disregard for her kids and after that is hurled into Mrs. Pontellier's over the top nature as an adulteress.

Edna Pontellier is a lady with tremendous need who is married with two kids and an adoring spouse who tends to her, yet she is not content with what she has. The novel 'The Awakening' was written in the 1890's and is one of Chopin's short books. The story mirrors Edna's need or what can be called need. Pontellier's ethical quality prompted an unpleasant double dealing of her own kids. Her attitude was harming to her kids' essentialness. The ways that she treated the youngsters were loaded with disregard. As in a specific night, Mr. Pontellier returned home from work to find that one of his youngsters had a fever. Mrs. Pontellier declined to take a look at the child since she expressed that “He had gone to bed perfectly well . . . and nothing had failed him all day.” Mr. Pontellier realized that his kids had a fever, however could do nothing about it, and was left to consider that his wife was a continual neglecter of their kids. He advised her this and she doesn't do anything. As an impartial point of interest, Mr. Pontellier had no clue what his darling personality had at the forefront of her thoughts. In Mrs. Pontellier's brain shifted the never ending show considering another man, other than her spouse. Amid the vast majority of the story, the man that Mrs. Pontellier fancied was Robert. Robert was an interesting man that she met amid the summers that were spent at Grand Isle. She had dependably been partial to the man, yet he demonstrated her little enthusiasm keeping in mind her marriage.
