Fred is a 15 year old boy from New York City who is moving to Williams, Maryland. It was a big change for Fred, moving from the city to the suburbs. Fred has 2 siblings, a brother and a sister, and has a mother and father. They moved to Williams because his father got a new job that had a lot more pay and it was right here in Williams. Fred was the middle child in his family. His brother was a 17 year old and was very big. He was at least 6’3” and weighed like 200 pounds. On the other hand, Fred was not like his brother Frank. Fred was probably the shortest student in his grade in NYC. He is around 5 feet and weighs barely 100 pounds. His sister was probably as big as him and she was 12 years old. It was science class that he would get bullied the most by all of the upperclassmen. One of them even took his glasses when the teacher was not looking and was throwing them across the room to another kid. They kept on throwing the glasses around until the teacher saw and made them give it back to Fred. Because of his height, Fred’s new name was “Shrimp”. It was almost the end of the day and Fred could not wait to go home and just lay down in his room. All of the upperclassmen were done teasing him for the day except Jim Jackson. He was the biggest bully of them all. Jim Jackson was the star quarterback for their school's varsity football team. Whatever he would do he would be able to get away with it because all the teachers knew that if he didn’t play then the football team would lose. Williams high school is huge about football. They have won the state championship 3 years in a row. Ever since Jim Jackson became the quarterback, they have not lost a state championship and students along with the teachers don’t want to break that streak. The last bell of the day rang and Fred ran as fast as he could to the bus so no one else could tease him but Jim Jackson caught up with him. Fred didn’t know Jim was behind him until he gave Fred a shove that was hard enough to bring him to the ground. Once Fred would get something out of his locker Jim would smack it out of his hands and Fred could not do anything about it because Jim was so big. Fred got all of his books and started to walk away until again Jim pushed him to the ground shouting “SHRIMP”. When Fred fell to the floor he still kept his things in his hands. He looked up and couldn’t believe what he had been seeing. He thought he was just seeing things so he rubbed his glasses and put them back on and it was real. There was another boy that was a year older than Fred but a year younger than Jim. He was telling Jim that it was not okay to be teasing him like that. Practically everyone in the school was stunned about what they were hearing. It was Peter Smith who was kinda a big guy but not as big as Jim. But Jim listened to Peter and backed down surprisingly.
