First of all students minds have been wandering since the dawn of education. Our brain has been aroused to perform several tasks, and we have an illusory sense that you must be performing that well. Some students today who go off task during a lecture, like messing on their phone, while still trying to pay attention to the lecture. Will probably walk away feeling alert. Some people who multitask on daily basis are very confident on their certain abilities. There was a study shown that self-described multitaskers performed much worse on cognitive and memory tasks. Back in the 1890’s physiologists were testing people's ability to direct their attention to multiple tasks. Multi tasking can help some people and it could hurt people. Secondly there are many types of multi tasking, some are high levels and some are low. Some of the low levels are chewing gum, fidgeting, and other stuff like that. And some of the bigger types are messing on your phone while in class, or playing a certain sport. Some sports need people who are able to multitask. The definition of multitasking means completing one or more certain tasks at once. Some people are good at doing this while others are not, there are even some professions that require people to multitask during work, or something could go wrong. There are also good and bad types of multitasking. A good example of one is searching something up to help you improve your knowledge on that certain topic. An example of a bad one is looking on instagram or any other social media apps, that do not improve or create knowledge on that certain topic.
