“Every plant or animal belongs to a species. A species is a population of plants or animals that can breed to produce offspring that can then produce offspring themselves. Biologists believe that new species evolve from existing species by a process called natural selection.” (American Geosciences Institute , 2015) Red pandas, along with various other species have slowly evolved over time; these are the animals that we see today. Red pandas which resemble raccoons have red and white markings which help them blend into red mosses and white lichens in which they live.
The red panda’s diet is very unusual for a mammal and consists mostly of bamboo. When the weather is warm enough, they also eat insects and fruit. Although the giant panda eats
