The strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a classic book from the Victorian era, written in 1886. People today read this book to get a mysterious thrill. In Robert Louis Stevenson's novella, Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, archetypes including color and nature, that are used to reflect good and evil. We start off with Utterson, who is investigating the Curue murder case fairly early in the morning, “for here it would be dark like the black of evening” (Stevenson 21). Here the author establishes a serious and gloomy mood. Black means death, which properly fits this sentence because he is investigating the murder case of Mr.Curue. This would be an evil archetype. In addition to that example, Stevenson also uses nature archetypes to depict the mood.
