In the first part of The Odyssey, Odysseus acts very brave, shows tremendous leadership, and retaliates against his enemies. These are the traits of a hero and he expresses these throught the myth. To be brave you must have good traits and must be strong and fierce. Not only that but to be a leader, you must have good communication and captain like skills. Last but not least, to retaliate against your enemies, yi must be a fighter at will. The heroic actions he shows start off with the Downfall of Troy. He engages this by making a wooden horse and hiding the Greek soldiers to go to the gates of Troy. He ends up defeating and winning the war. This is heroic because he retaliates, in other words he fights till the end. This here is heroic because a hero has no fear and will do what it takes. He goes through a lot of trouble which makes him brave. He encounters Scylla which either takes all of his men or six on a boat. Odysseus goes the other direction allowing Scylla to take six men instead of all because 6 is better than all. He ends up surviving which is brave because he took the route with Scylla.
Last but not least, he shows heroic actions by showing great leadership by getting out of sticky situations. Towards the end, the Cyclops pray to the gods that Odysseus gets all the trouble he can get back home. They pray that he faces terrible storms, creatures, etc. He shows leadership by telling his men to stay brave whether or not they get back. He keeps moving with his men and face everything that has been prayed upon.
