Macbeth: Power Hungry This will be the best written the best written paper since the publication of Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Macbeth Isn’t like most of the works written by Shakespeare. Macbeth is a complicated character. Macbeth can be described as irrevocably evil, but his weak characteristics separate him from Shakespeare’s usual great villains. His negative characteristics include: greed (we only wanted the crown), jealousy( he killed Duncan because he wanted what he had), evil(not only murdering king Duncan but he slaughtered many different people that he didn’t have to hurt), no remorse(after killing all the people, he was not guilty.), not very sympathetic(when lady Macbeth killed herself Macbeth did not weep, or even care). …show more content…
The witches gave three predictions. 1.) Macbeth will be thane of Glamis (already true), 2.) Macbeth will be the thane of Cawdor, 3.) Banquo will not be king, but his children will. When they got back Macbeth was told he is now the thane of Cawdor by king Duncan’s order. This leaves Banquo worried about the rest of the witches said. He then asks if Macbeth is worried. Macbeth lied and said he hasn’t thought about the witches at all, but in reality he also can’t get the witches words out of his mind. Macbeth has a crazy plan , he thinks if he could kill king Duncan, and everyone in line to the thrown before himself, then he could become king. He tried to talk himself out of it but then he and lady Macbeth made a solid plan to kill Duncan. After this, the plan and the decision was pretty much set in stone. “Though sure and firm-set earth, hear not my where about, and take the present horror from the time, which now suits with it. This was the night he would finally execute the king. Craving power he killed Duncan at the first chance he got, along with his guards (which he did not have to kill in the first place). At first Macbeth was shocked. “Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand?” (Act 2, scene 1) Macbeth couldn’t believe himself at first, he had betrayed himself; god, his king and he lost all his morals. But after the initial shock was gone he decided to finish the deed and kill everyone he had to until he had all the power. He was either killing people himself or having assassins he hired kill people for him. The whole situation was terrible. But he was determined to kill everyone who was in his way of the thrown. He even killed Duncan’s wife, sons, servants, and other helpers in the castle just because Banquo wasn’t for him. Luckily Banquo was not killed because he was not in town, he was visiting Malcom (Duncan’s son) to let him know he wanted to fight with him against Macbeth . and he did so. Macbeth slowly became a monster. But not for too long because Banquo eventually battled Macbeth and slayed Macbeth. Banquo’s family is now
