The first thing that grabbed my attention is when we talked about the common names that we as a society calls women. It was crazy because all the names that we listed were negative. It’s sad that when we think of women we think of things such as “bitch”, “slut”, “whore”, and “cunt”. The saddest thing is that most of these names where coming from the women in the class. I cannot lie even though I named a few that was on the list we made in class it bothered me. I think it was one girl that spoke out about all the negative words and I understand why she was offended. Women should be seen as “beautiful” and “gorgeous”. Not only did this particular class mate say something about the negative portrayal of women but sex as well. Which happens between two people who have strong feelings and attachments to one another. This leads me to another discussion we had this week in class. The impression that women are the bodies and men are the minds and that women are more connected to their bodies than men. Moreover, women not being able to get the same opportunities as me. We were just on the feminist theory in class and what we talked about related to this topic. Although they say everybody is equal in society, we all have witness otherwise especially when it comes to gender roles. This goes to show that not only do mean look down on women but so do the greater society which teaches our men to have such a mindset. This basically saying that the only thing women are good for is sex and that they were put on this earth to be used by men sexual. Therefore, some men take this out of content and actually force themselves on women because they feel like all women should submit to
