Flashbulb Memory Analysis

For this particular assignment we were asked to recall a ‘flashbulb memory’ and compare our recount of the event to someone else’s. For this, I decided to describe and reflect on my memory of my great aunt’s passing in spring 2013.
Late afternoon February 15th, 2012 I remember going shopping at Lowes with my father and sister. My aunt was already in an extremely poor condition, so I (at least in the back of my mind) recognized her death was inevitable and near. I vaguely remember being in the sink isle, possibly? As me and my sister nervously paced behind our father, suddenly his cell phone started ringing. I remember him dismissing the worker he was talking with to take the call. She cannot pinpoint the exact date, and instead told me it happened around Valentine’s Day. The only reason she remembers the general time when it took place was because she hat Valentine candy from her 5th grade class with her. She remembers herself, our father, and I being in Lowes (like I previously mentioned) after school (which I cannot remember). She remembers him getting a call on his cell phone and saying “What?” and asking the person on the other side (presumably our mother) what was wrong (which I don’t remember him doing). Once we got home she remembers being called back home after playing outside (which I have no memory of her doing, I had thought she was inside the whole time) so our parents could give us the bad news. She doesn’t remember me crying, but remembers that she did and angrily retreated upstairs to be alone (which, again, I don’t remember).
