Freak the Mighty is a fantastic story full of adventure. Both the book and the movie are superb in many different ways. The similarities and differences are easy to find. The similarities between the two are so interesting that it brings the book to life.

Freak the Mighty and The Mighty have many similarities. One of the major similarities is the main characters: Grim, Gram, Max, Kevin, and Gwen. Max and Kevin found a friendship with each other and go on adventures. Max and Kevin are both bullied. Kevin tussles with some things with sass and Max is larger than everyone else. Kevin and Max would “vanquish dragons and sought fair maidens to save.”

One of the major differences is when Kevin and Max get chased. In the book Kevin whistles for a police officer, and in the movie a police officer just shows up. In the movie Kevin and Max lived in a duplex, but in the book the lived across the street from each other. Another difference is when Kevin chokes on his food he is rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.

Max picks up a manhole cover and throws it at a bully in the movie as an evasive maneuver. Kevin and Max are chased down an alley and Max picks up the cover and throws it. In the movie Kevin gets a purse easy and in the movie Kevin, while on Max’s shoulders, gets asked for it by the kids who stole it in the first place. Kevin gets asked by Tony D. to give him the purse. Max took the purse to its owner who lived in an almost vacant apartment complex. Max and Kevin then had to postulate that the money was not taken by them.

Comparing the two genres was fun and invigorating. Both the movie and the book inspired me not to judge a book by its cover. Freak the Mighty and The Mighty are definitely worth the time it takes to read and watch the movie, and it is intriguing. The movie and book make you feel smug after you are finished. I hope that you feel as satisfied as I did after Freak the Mighty and The Mighty. The book will truss you into reading more and
