“There's a story going around 'bout how some twenty Redcoats got killed by a ghost or some damn thing, carried a Cherokee tomahawk. Aren't you a little old to be believing in ghost stories?” The movie, The Patriot, is the story about a retired French-Indian War Veteran named Benjamin Martin. He is still haunted by his past and would want nothing more than to stay on his farm and protect his family. The eldest of his four sons, Gabriel, enlists in the Continental Army and wants to fight for freedom. His father knows what war does to people and warns him about what will happen. So when Col. Tavington and the British army finds out that Gabriel is staying at the Martin house, they torch it and kill his son Thomas who was trying to save Gabriel. Since they killed his son and burned down his house, so one may say that Benjamin Martins tactics were honorable. …show more content…
Colonel Tavington is even quoted saying, “You know, it's an ugly business doing one's duty... but just occasionally it's a real pleasure.” Since he was so heartless and ruthless after he had just killed an innocent bystanders son makes Benjamin’s tactics were just. It is something along the lines of karma, Col. Tavington killed Benjamin’s son, Thomas, so something bad was destined to happen to him in return. Col. Tavington even called Thomas a “stupid boy” after killing him, while his father watched and listened to it
