Gayle Forman's If I Stay

In the book “If I Stay” by Gayle Forman, it starts out with a seventeen-year-old girl named Mia Hall ( played by Chloe Grace Moretz) who is an amazing, young cellist player. But she is in the turn for the worst, she has to make the most difficult decision in her life to either pursue her musical dream or follow her heart and be with her love of her life, Adam ( played by Jamie Blackley) a rock singer/guitarist. Their was a heavy snowfall, that cancels school, Mia and her brother Teddy stayed home with their father (High school English teacher), and their mother takes the day off of work, they make a plan to have a trip together and visit some old family friends,stop by a huge bookstore and then go eat a late lunch at Mia’s grandparents. Mia and Teddy was sent to the hospital in a critical condition. Mia has an out-of-body experience and that enables her to observe everything that's happening around her without feeling and pain, Her first thoughts is that she dead and asking if this what death feels like. She is faced with either fighting or letting go. Teddy and Mia were rushed to the nearest hospital, Mia was flown to the nearest trauma center nearby Portland. She was going in between her real life and watching everyone come up to the hospital, and seeing everyone crying then she was realizing that she might not make it out of this alive.She has a flashback when she was getting ready to go on a date with Adam.When she went into surgery one of the nurse told her she needs to start fighting now if she wants to live.She has mutiple more flashbacks when she was younger, her dad has a horrible head trauma and the doctors are saying he might not make it out alive.It just keeps going back and forth though Mia surgry and her flashbacks.Mia and her father have been in surgry for awhile now, Teddy Mia’s brother was alert when he arrived to the hospital and getting a catscan, nothering was said about Mia’s mother. Mia is back from surgery and watching her grandparents coming maybe for 1 last time. Her Grandpa said “i've been thinking on what Denny Mia’s father would say to you at this point”, He goes on and tells a story on how he quit the band. Mia finds out the real reason her father quit the bad is because of Mia and how amazing she could play the cello.Mia’s grandpa tells her “I want you to live, wants that more than anything in the world, wants you to fight like hell, but with everyone else gone it might not be what you want but it might be to hard for you to keep fight, and if you wanna go it's okay, i understand”. The family members start saying their goodbyes, they are realizing that Mia isn't gonna make this out alive.Mia takes her last walks around the hospital, seeing all her family members just waiting for Mia to wake up from the coma.Mia starts to see the light, but then the one of her songs she plays come on over the intercom in the hospital, Mia whispers “just after this piece”. The music takes her back to her room and seeing Adam sitting there, he put headphones on her and played her song that she loves to play the most.Adam was telling her to “stay”, he also said that he had to climb but the balcony to get into the house, found a letter in her mail slot, it's from Juilliard Mia got into one of her most wanted
