Having respect for other people changes the way that people respect you. “ The Most Dangerous Game” shows that theme because of the way Rainsford treats General Zaroff. At the beginning of the short story, Rainsford has no problem with General Zaroff, but that was because General Zaroff was a gentleman to him, the general offered food, clothes, and a place to rest with no hesitation. As the story continues, General Zaroff becomes a monster, making Rainsford lose admiration for the man he just thought was a very polished and refined.
