Thank you for sharing this week discussion post with your colleague. The insight gained in this discussion post suggests sensitivity issue of generational exclusion. Generational exclusion based on the inability to keep up with advancement in social media suggests a quick decline in the elderly population health. The decline is due to not just about not having access to a computer but the literacy faced among the elderly population inability to comprehend and understand what social media sites are. Therefore, it is important to consider the possibility of plain language media tools when implementing programs and communicating health to public (Bertot, Jaeger, & Hansen, 2011). Social media needs to continue to practice using the plain language format in flyers, brochures, and newsletters to promote elderly inclusiveness. These social media materials will help to build and maintain a well-informed access to health information for elderlies.

Social media is one of the most powerful engineering tools that will continue to emerge in keeping population well informed (Osterrieder, 2013). Yes, social media strength lies in public health literacy in overcoming health illiteracy. The ability for an individual to gain access to health information provides support to strengthen the overall health of a population.
