“Golden Park volunteer work”

“Golden Gardens is one of Seattle’s most popular parks and one of the Northwest’s most beautiful beaches. The 87-acre park in Ballard is situated on Puget Sound, overlooking the Olympic mountains”(“Golden Gardens Park”). It was my second time visiting Golden park which is located next to Golden Gardens, showing off gorgeous scenery of beautiful beach. First time was when I had a bon fire barbecue party for FIUTS program. Since I really enjoyed the atmosphere, I determined to go Golden Gardens for my volunteer work. Before we get to the park, we were suspicious of what we are going to do. Everything was neat and clean based on our previous experience of the park. As we all recognize, trees can absorb carbon dioxide and emit oxygen. Trees can also become a safe habitat for both insects and animals. As a function of soil, “Soil serves as the primary filter of water as water moves from the atmosphere into rivers, streams, and groundwater. Soil provides wide variety of living organisms”(Friedland, Andrew, and Rick 130). The over populated blackberry bushes significantly devastated good resources of soil. Not only bushes took away all the nutrients that were supporting strong advantage of biodiversity but also it absorbed all the water that was existing for strong soil. As a flow, bushes influenced trees as well. Specially in this case, an important role of tree was prevention of landslide. The place we volunteered was on a pretty steep slope on a mountain and blackberry bushes were all around the trees weakening their roots. Probably trees would be fine in normal weather or little of rain but they seemed hard to stand strong wind because of the bushes Landslide can easily make deadly results.
